Photography Notes (2)–How to trigger strobe wirelessly

Equipments: Two PocketWizard plus II transceivers, one 580 flash light, camera 5d2. Environment has only two regular lights on, bit dark inside. 

1. Set one PocketWizard to my camera hot shoe, Set another one to my flash ( use cable to connect), the flash is fixed on the lightstand.

2. Set both to channel 1, set to mode to both. 

3. The flash sync is set to high speed, the wireless is on ( press zoom button long to set to wireless). power set to 1 plus 1/3 stop.

4. Turn on the both PocketWizard, press the “test” button on the one on camera hot shoe, make sure it will fire the flash.

5. On camera, use “M” mode, set the shutter speed to 1/160 or 1/200, set the aperture to 5.6. 

6. Hand hold camera, press the shutter button, the exposure is bit over, adjust the aperture and shutter speed, try again.

The next step: get the light metering to set the correct aperature.
